# Registering for a CustomerConnect Account

Your Water Authority may set up a CustomerConnect account for you or you may be able to register your own account. If the **Sign Up** option is available on the login screen then you can set up your own CustomerConnect account.

To create your account follow these steps:

**Step 1**

Click **Sign Up** to start creating an account and fill in the details on the sign up screen.

**Step 2**

When you’ve completed the form, click **Sign Up**. The system will send an email to the address you specified with a link to activate the account.

> ℹ️ The link expires in five minutes.

**Step 3**

Click the link in the email to activate your account. 

**Step 4**

Log into CustomerConnect using your account details.

> ℹ️ When you first log in to CustomerConnect you may need to register your Water Account details. You will need your **Water Account ID** and **Water Account PIN** to do this. You can get these details from your Water Authority.

- If your’re already a registered OWNER or OPERATOR with your water authority then you may have access to your water accounts and outlets when you log in. You don’t need to do anything else.
- If not, CustomerConnect will promt you to add a water account to your CustomerConnect account when you first log in.

> ℹ️ You can always add more Water Accounts from your [Water Accounts](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CC/pages/2866151425) page.

**Step 5**

If you are prompted to add a water account, enter the **Water Account ID** and **PIN** and click **Add**:

You will now have OPERATOR access to any outlets that belong to this water account.

> ℹ️ You may need to log out and in again to see your new water accounts.

# Logging In

To log in, open CustomerConnect, enter the login details, and click **Login**.

> ℹ️ You’ll be logged out automatically after 30 minutes of inactivity (depending on the policies of your Water Authority).

# Changing or Resetting a Password

> ℹ️ If you change or reset your password you will receive an email or an SMS confirrming the change.

## Changing Your Password

To change your password, select the **Change Password** option from the application menu. You’ll be prompted to enter your email address or username so we can send you instructions for changing your password.

> ℹ️ If you share an email address, use your username.

## Resetting a forgotten password

If you forget your password you can request a new one by clicking the **Forgotten Password?** link on the login screen. Enter your username and the email address or phone number where you want the new password sent.

# Logging Out

To log out of CustomerConnect, select **Sign Out **from the application menu.

# Installing CustomerConnect as an Application

You can use CustomerConnect in the browser or install it as an application (“progressive web app” or PWA). An application can be launched from the icon on the desktop or home page and will run in its own window.

> ℹ️ If you install the application, you will be able to use CustomerConnect offline. The application will automatically install any updates when you are connected to the internet.

The method for installing a PWA will vary depending on your operating system, the browser, and the browser version. Please consult the browser documentation for up-to-date instructions.
