If your outlet is manually metered you can enter meter readings in CustomerConnect.

Start entering a reading by either:

- Clicking the **Add Reading** button on the outlet.
- Clicking the **+** **Add** button at the bottom right of the [Meter Readings](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CC/pages/1914634431) page.

Then:

1. Select an outlet or accept the default.
2. For a shared outlet, select the water account that the reading is for.
3. Enter a reading and click **Upload** to save the reading.

> ℹ️ The way that reading issues are handled depends on your Water Authority’s policies.
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ - You will be alerted if there are any issues with the reading you entered. For example you may be prompted to enter the reading with a specified number of decimal points.
> ℹ️ - If the reading is out of the expected range, or exceeds your allocation you may be prompted to check the reading and it may be referred to a Planner for review.

# What happens if the reading is an estimate?

If the reading is an estimate you will be prompted to enter an (optional) note about the reading and the reading will be referred to a Planner for review.

# What happens if the reading is out of range?

If the reading is outside the expected range (as configured for your network) you may be prompted to enter a reason and the reading may be referred to a Planner for review. You won’t be able to enter new readings for the site until the planner has reviewed the reading.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ For a reading at a shared outlet, the variance is based on the expected reading for both the water account and the outlet that you specified.

# What happens if the reading exceeds my allocation?

If you enter a reading outlet but the reading exceeds your allocation:

- You may be prompted to check the reading and modify it if necessary.
- If you don’t change the reading it may be referred to the Planner for review.
