# Making Changes to Pending Orders

## Modify or Cancel Pending Orders

If an order can be modified or cancelled, you will see buttons for these actions in the Order Details screen. These options may be restricted based on the timing of the order or on policies applied by your Water Authority.

- To cancel a pending order, open the Order Details screen and click **Cancel Order**. You’ll be prompted to confirm that you want to cancel the order.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ You **Cancel **a *Pending* order. If the order is already running you must **Stop** the order and you will be charged for any water you have used.

- To modify an order, open the Order Details screen and click **Modify**. The next screen will show you the options you have to change the order.

The Modify Order screen shows you the options you have for modifying the order:

- Changing the order stop or start time.
- Changing the flow rates.
- Changing the volume allocations of the plantings (this only applies if your water authority are using crop types for ordering).

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ The changes you can make may be restricted by your Water Authority. For example, you may need to provide a certain amount of notice for any changes.

## Changing the Start or Finish time of a Pending Order

1. On the Order Details screen click **Modify **to modify the order. Then click **Modify Start/Finish **to change the order start or end time.
2. Modify the start and/or the end date of the order by editing the **Start **or **Finish** fields.
3. Click **Save** to save your changes.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ If you change the start time of an order, then - by default - the finish time is automatically adjusted to retain the original order duration. You can adjust the finish time or duration if necessary.

## Changing the Order Flow Rate of a Pending Order

1. On the Order Details screen click **Modify **to modify the order. Then click **Modify Flow **to change the order flow.
2. If you just want to change the flow rate for a single flow, simply edit the flow rate field for that flow.
3. If you want to add a flow, you will need to adjust the duration of the existing flows first because the total duration of the order cannot be changed on the **Modify Flow** screen (however you can modify the order duration first if necessary by using the **Modify Start/Finish** option).

> ℹ️ **Example**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ If I had an order with one flow lasting two days and I wanted to split it into two different flows lasting a day each I would proceed as follows:
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ - Use the **Modify Flow** option to change the finish time (and optionally the flow rate) of the original flow so that it lasted only one day. (At this point my order would be invalid because the flow duration would not match the specified order duration)
> ℹ️ - Add a new flow with a duration of a day to follow the first flow.
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ I could now save my modified order.

## Changing the Planting Details for a Pending Order

This option will only apply if your Water Authority requires that you specify crops for ordering.

## Changing the Stored Water Allocation for a Pending Order

Your Water Authority may permit you to choose whether or not to use your stored water allocation in restriction period. If so you can modify the stored water rate or percentage for pending orders. Click the **Modify Stored Water** button to make any changes.

# Making Changes to Operating Orders

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ The changes you can make to operating orders will depend on the policies that your Water Authority has in place.

## Stopping an Order

This action would typically be used if you need to stop the flow from the outlet in an emergency. Your water authority may or may not have enabled this feature.

If your water authority permits, you can stop a running order:

- From the Order list by selecting **Stop **(or **Close**)** **from the order menu
- From the Order Details screen by tapping the **Stop (or Close) **button.

You will be prompted to confirm that you want to stop the order. Once the flow has stopped the order status will be *Delivered*.

## Modifying Operating Orders

You may be able to change the finish time and the flow details of an operating order depending on the restrictions applied by your Water Authority. If so, use the same options as for pending orders. You cannot change the start time of an operating order and you cannot cancel an operating order (although you may be able to **Stop** the order).

The changes you can make to operating orders depend on your Water Authority policies and on how orders are planned.

For orders that are NOT manually planned you may be able to change the finish time and the flow details of an operating order depending on the restrictions applied by your Water Authority. If so, use the same options as for pending orders. You cannot change the start time of an operating order and you cannot cancel an operating order (although you may be able to **Stop** the order in an emergency).

## Modifying Operating and Delivered Orders at Manually Planned Outlets

See [Modifying or Cancelling an Operating Order at a Manually Planned Outlet](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CC/pages/2867659004/Request+an+Order+at+a+Manually+Planned+Outlet#Modifying-or-Cancelling-the-Order) for details of what options are available for these outlets.

## Changing the Planting Details for an Operating Order

If you change the volume allocations for an *operating* order you must specify the **Effective Time** for the change. The original order will finish at the effective time and a new order will be created to start at the effective time with the new volume allocations.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ For a pending order the changes are made to the original order and no new order is created.
